Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse | | Eric Stephens

Griffins Lose To #3 Lindenwood

SALT LAKE CITY--Westminster's women's lacrosse team lost to nationally ranked Lindenwood, 18-5.  The Griffins are 0-2 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play and 0-6 overall.

The Griffins were forced to play a lot of defense as the #3 Lions controlled the game outshooting Westminster 42-9, winning 19-25 draw controls and allowing only 12-21 clearances.

Westminster's resistance was tested and the defense held strong for a good portion of the first half, denying the Lions for a little over nine minutes.  They fell by two a couple of minutes later but came right back with an Audree Erekson goal to make it 2-1.

Eventually the dam broke and Westminster finished the half trailing by eight, 9-1.

The Griffins quadrupled their first have goal production in the second half with four goals with Kenna Tychsen scoring the game's final goal on a free position to finish the game, 18-5.

Mikala Davis faced 21 first half shots and came up big with 12 saves.  She finished the day with 15 total saves.

Tychsen led the Griffins with two goals on three shots, scoring both on free position shots.  Madie Ingman scored one and recorded the only Westminster assist.  Allie Lambert and Audree Erekson both scored solo goals.

Westminster gets a break from competition until March 21 when they host Oklahoma Baptist.
