SALT LAKE CITY – Coming off a two straight wins to start the season, Westminster women's basketball will head to Nampa, Idaho to participate in the 2019 Fairfield Inn Tournament.
The Griffins will take on Central Washington on Friday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m., and Northwest Nazarene on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 6 pm.
Westminster opened its season with a pair of road victories over Midwestern State University of Texas and the University of Texas at Tyler.
Mariah Martin averaged 22 points per game and
Sarah McGinley averaged a double double with 16.5 points per game and 10 rebounds per game. The duo swept the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week Awards.
Kaylee Carlsen and
Kaitlin Toluono averaged double figures as well, with 11.5 and 11 points per game, respectively.
Central Washington is 1-1, beating Stanislaus State and losing to Hawaii Pacific in the CWU West Region Crossover. The Wildcats have five players averaging double figures, let by Kaelie Flores' 17.5 points per game.
Northwest Nazarene is also 1-1, opening the season with a split at the GNAC-CCAA Crossover tournament. The Nighthawks have a trio of dangerous scorers, with Avery Allbrecht, Erin Jenkins and Marina Valles each posting 13 points per game or more.
