Volleyball Suffers Loss To Dixie

ST. GEORGE, Utah--The Griffins (3-12, 0-7 RMAC) played the first of three matches this week on Tuesday night at Dixie State. Westminster fell in three sets (20-25, 18-25, 18-25) to the Trailblazers (10-5, 5-2 RMAC).

The night started off well for the Griffins as they took the lead to begin the first set, leading 24-27 of the first points played. Dixie tied the set 14-14 then took the lead with the next three points.

The second set was more of a battle with three ties and two lead changes in the first 10 points. Dixie State won the opening point but Westminster tied it on the next and took the lead on the following point. Westminster tied the score 5-5 after the Trailblazers had regained the lead earlier, 4-3. The home team scored four in a row and took the final lead of the set.

The third set was an early battle much like the second set. The Griffins tied the score four times (4-4, 7-7, 8-8 and 10-10) before eventually taking the lead at 11-10. Unfortunately the Griffins were unable to hold onto the lead as Dixie scored five to regain the lead, 15-11, to finish the set and the match.

Audrey Green recorded 11 kills on 32 attempts for a clip of .156 and Lydia Miller had seven kills on 29 attempts for a clip of .138. Aggie Roese-Olsen recorded two kills to go along with her 14 assists. Sydney Simmons led the team with 5 blocks, two solos and three block assists. Taylor Harvey was close behind with one solo and three block assists.

The Griffins will be back in action against Colorado School of Mines on Friday at 7 pm.
