DURANGO, Colo.—Westminster men's soccer team suffered its first conference loss, 1-0, to Fort Lewis.
"Today was a really tough game and Fort Lewis scored a really nice goal," Head Coach
Josh Pittman said. "The boys fought hard but we couldn't equalize."
The Skyhawks scored the deciding goal in the 29th minute of the first half. Jean-Loic Baptist scored from the top of the penalty box, beating goalkeeper
Will Desantis in the lower left corner of the goal.
The Griffins recorded seven shots with five on goal.
Danny Darelli missed high on the team's only shot of the first half.
Kennedy Alder and
Max Bingman both had two shots saved and Skyler Kjellandar had an effort saved by Fort Lewis goalkeeper Peter Byrne in the second half.
Westminster played the final 15 minutes with 10 men after
Brody Nelson received a second yellow card and was sent off.
Westminster plays against on Sunday at 1:30 pm at Colorado Mesa.
