SALT LAKE CITY--The Westminster women's soccer team provided a memorable game for 10 seniors in their final regular season home game. The Griffins scored five goals to defeat New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU) in a game overtaken by a snow storm in the second half.
Westminster controlled the first half with 70 percent possession, 11 shots and four corner kicks.
Bailey Kroll assisted
Emma Heyn for the game-winner and opening goal. Heyn pounced on a loose ball in the penalty box after Kroll's shot was saved by NMHU goalkeeper Karina Vega.
Brynnae Braun provided two assists for the Griffins as they put four more goals in the back of the net. Braun assisted
Bailey Kroll in the 53rd minute and
Aimee Kurfurst in the 59th.
Abby Keeley netted a goal in the 77th minute and
Micah Fredrick scored in the 87th, assisted by
Cassidy Orr, to finish the game, 5-0.
The Griffins finished with 30 shots, 17 on goal, and corner kicks. Defensively they held the Cowgirls to just 12 shots, five on goal, and zero corners.
Hillary Weixler made five saves earning her seventh shoutout on the season.
Heyn finished with a team leading six shots followed closely by Kurfurst with four. Keeley recorded three shots and McKell Kellog had three shots.

Westminster takes to the road for next weekend's games at Western Colorado on Friday and Colorado Mesa on Sunday.
