COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Westminster men's lacrosse team snapped its three-game losing streak with a 12-9 win at Colorado College on Thursday night in the first game of a weekend road trip.

Westminster (4-5) trailed 8-5 at the 11:41 mark of the third quarter when Colorado College (9-4) scored a third consecutive goal.
Nick Marcy would spark the Griffins comeback with three straight goals in a span of less than five minute to tie the game at 8-8 with 5:26 on the third quarter clock.

The Griffins first lead of the night came when
Jake Berard scored with 2:58 left in the third.
Thomas Sarjeant capped his four-goal outing early in the fourth to put Westminster ahead 10-8. After the Tigers got one back,
Troy Vance and Marcy tallied the final two goals of the game to secure the victory.

Westminster took 38 shots in the win and they were able to get 31 of those on cage. They overcame a 5-2 deficit in the first quarter to finish the game with an 18-7 advantage in faceoffs won. The Griffins picked up 36 ground balls and were perfect in 16 clearing attempts.

Sarjeant added a pair of assists to his four goals to lead the team with six points. Marcy had an assist to post five points and the duo each took eight shots.

The faceoff edge was bolstered by
Cole Spooner winning 6 of 8 to compliment
Dalton Tuor winning 12 of his 17 chances.
Kolton Atkinson led the team with six ground balls and
Nathan Wade had a team-best two caused turnovers.

Conner McFarlane earned the win in cage with 17 saves and nine goals allowed. It was his fourth straight game with double-digit saves and the .654 save percentage is his second highest of the season.

Colorado College claimed 37 ground balls and committed 15 turnovers while forcing the Griffins into 16.

Robbie Stern led the Tigers with three goals and Skylar Whinery made 14 saves against eight goals allowed.

Westminster will be back in action on Saturday with a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game against Maryville on Saturday. The game is being hosted by Colorado College and will start at 10 a.m.
