ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Westminster women's lacrosse team opened its weekend road trip in Colorado with a 20-4 win at Adams State on Friday afternoon in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.

After the teams traded goals to start the game, Westminster (5-2, 3-1 RMAC) went on a 7-0 run to open an 8-1 advantage with 14:14 left in the first half. The Griffins led 11-3 at intermission and then outscored Adams State (0-7, 0-5 RMAC) by a tally of 9-1 in the second half.

Seven different Griffins scored in the win with
Kira Heiden leading the team with six goals.
Morgan Bakarich finished with five goals and two assists for a team-bets seven points.
Allison Lambert had six points with her three goals and three assists.

Westminster finished the game with a 33-15 advantage in shots attempts and they put 27 of their shots on goal. They claimed 16 of 26 draw controls with 25 ground balls. The Griffins forced ASU into 13 turnovers to combat their 16 and the visitors went 16 of 19 in clearing attempts.

Heiden led the team with five draw controls while Lambert and
Katie Adams had four apiece.
Daisy Mele picked up six ground balls and Adams had a pair of caused turnovers.

Taylor Hekking earned the win in cage by making five saves during the first half.
Mikala Anderson played the second half with three stops.

The Griffins will now head for Durango, Colo., for a Sunday contest at Fort Lewis. That RMAC game will begin at 1 p.m.
