ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Westminster men's lacrosse team wrapped up its spring break road trip with a 16-5 win at Maryville on Sunday afternoon in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.

Westminster (3-2, 3-0 RMAC) won the final two games of the trip that saw them play four games in eight days in two different stats and four different cities. They are the lone RMAC team undefeated in conference play at this early stage of the season.

It was a strong first quarter that had the Griffins in control on Sunday. After
Blake Bruner scored the first goal of the game, Maryville (0-7, 0-4 RMAC) pulled even at 1-1.
Thomas Sarjeant and
Nick Marcy then alternated four goals between them to end the quarter.
Bert Merrill then scored the opening tally of the second quarter to put the Griffins in front 6-1.

Maryville came back with a pair of man-up goals to cut the Westminster lead in half with 2:16 to play before halftime. The visiting side then ran off seven straight goals – two apiece from
Troy Vance,
Nick Stasch, and
Cole Flinders – to open a 13-3 advantage early in the fourth quarter. They would then close the victory with the final three goals after the Saints struck twice.

Westminster controlled much of the action at the offensive end where they attempted 43 shots with 28 on goal. The Griffins were 18 of 21 in clearing chances and committed just 12 turnovers.

Marcy finished the afternoon with a team-high six points by adding four assists to his two goals. Sarjeant had three assists for five points while Flinders and Bruner added three points apiece. Vance and
Brian Dejesus led the team with six shots apiece.

Maryville won 13 of 24 faceoffs, but the committed 20 turnovers and only attempted 24 shots. The Griffins had a 40-23 edge in ground balls.

Dalton Tuor led the Griffins with five ground balls with Vance and
Hans Gieschen leading the way with two caused turnovers each.

Four Griffins saw time in cage with
Conner McFarlane earning the win with five saves.
Kyler Banks finished with three saves.

Brenden Symons led Maryville with three goals and four points.
