OGDEN – The indoor track and field season begins, today, for the Westminster Griffins. The Griffins are competing in the Weber State Winter Open. Throwers compete at 4 p.m. today, at the Weber County Fairgrounds Riding Arena. Jumpers and runners compete tomorrow, starting at 9 a.m., at the Stromberg Arena in the Swenson Gym.
The Westminster men's and women's teams will compete against athletes from BYU, Idaho State, Utah, Utah Valley and Colorado Mesa. Throwers will compete in the weight throw and the shot put. Runners will compete in the 55-meter, 55-meter hurdles, 200-meter, 4x400-meter relay, 800-meter, mile, and 3000-meter races. Jumpers will compete in the pole vault and high jump.
This is the first of five meets scheduled for the Griffins before the RMAC Indoor Championship in February, at the Colorado School of Mines.
The team will be in Provo next weekend, competing in the BYU Indoor Invite.
