Women's basketball (0-1) played Concordia University Irvine (1-0) last Friday. The Griffins outshot Concordia from the field, 40.8 to 34.3 percent, and the line, 87.5 to 50.00 percent, but Concordia was hot behind the arc, scoring 13 of 34 3-pointers to win the game 67-59.Â

Max Shelley and
Sydnee Taylor, and freshman Hunter Krebs each scored double digit points for the Griffins. Junior
Denise Gonzalez had five assists and added seven points to the team's total.

Westminster in Pueblo for Two Games
The team goes to Pueblo, Colorado, for two games against Davenport University (1-2) and Northern State University (2-1). The Griffins are scheduled to tip off against Davenport on Friday, November 17, at 1 p.m. CST and Northern State at 2 p.m. CST

Scouting Davenport
The Davenport Panthers are 1-2 after playing three games in four days, losing their first two games to Missouri – St. Louis in overtime, 67-75, and Maryville University, 63-70. The Panthers got their single win against Cornerstone University on Monday, 63-56.

The Panthers have out shot their opponents from the field, 41.1 to 37.7 percent, but they have given up 63 free throws in the three games, averaging 21 per game. They average 4.3 blocks and 38 rebounds per game.

Leading the Panthers is senior Emily Severn with 47 points, averaging 15.7 per game, 20 rebounds and seven assists. Severn had a double-double against Maryville University pulling down 11 rebounds and scoring 12 points.

Helping out is Junior Martyna Pioro and sophomore Jenna Falkenberg. Pioro has scored 29 points, shooting 64.3 from the field and 55.6 percent behind the arc. Falkenberg has six blocked shots, 20 rebounds and scored 19 points.

Scouting Northern State
The Northern State Wolves beat Harding on Friday, 83-78, lost to Central Missouri on Saturday, 82-65, and beat Texas A&M International on Monday, 94-53.

The Wolves have averaged 80.7 points per gam, with a 9.7 scoring margin. The team is shooting 47.9 percent from the field, 38.2 percent from behind the arc and 76.1 percent from the line. The Wolves pull down 42 rebounds per game, 10.00 more than their opponents.

Miranda Ristau leads the team with 50 points, averaging 16.7 points per game, and 17 rebounds. The other four starters are strong contributors to the team. Jessi Marti has 39 points and eight assists. Jill Conrad has 31 points and six assists and 15 rebounds. Brianna Kusler is five of eight from behind the arc and has 30 points, six assists and 13 rebounds. Alexis Tapper has 22 points, eight assists, and 18 rebounds.

Looking Ahead
The Griffins have two away games next week. The griffins play Wednesday, November 22, against the Weber State University Wildcats in Ogden, Utah. The game is scheduled to tip off at 12 p.m. MST in the Dee Events Center. The Griffins play Dixie State University Trailblazers on Friday, November 24, at 2 p.m. in St. George, Utah, at the Burns Arena.Â
About the Griffins
Westminster is in its third year as a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and at the NCAA Division II level. Last year the Griffins finished ninth in the RMAC standings with a 11-15 overall and 9-13 RMAC record. The Griffins went 6-6 at home, 5-8 away, and 0-1 at neutral venue. Â

Sydnee Taylor led the Griffins in points and blocks last year. Â
Denise Gonzalez led the team in steals and was the third leading scorer for the Griffins in 2016-17. Â
Westminster opponents averaged 64.15 points per game and shot 38.8 percent from the floor. The Griffins averaged averaged 60.69 points per game shooting 38.8 percent from the floor.
The Griffins were picked tenth, tied with Colorado Christian University, in the RMACÂ Preseason Coaches Poll.
