The Westminster women's lacrosse team will host three games this week as they return to Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action. On Tuesday, Westminster welcomes Colorado State – Pueblo to town at 4 p.m. in a non-conference game. The Griffins will host Fort Lewis on Thursday at 4 p.m. in their first-ever home RMAC game. The busy slate concludes against Adams State on Saturday at 1 p.m.

ABOUT THE GRIFFINS
Westminster will head into the busy week at 1-2 overall this season and 1-1 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action. The Griffins have played all of their games on the road to start the season. They are currently tied for third in the RMAC standings with five league games to play. The top four teams in the final standings will qualify for the RMAC Tournament.
 
ON OFFENSE
The Griffins are averaging 11.33 goals per game to rank sixth in the RMAC and they are seventh in the conference by taking 24.0 shots per game. The team is putting 21.0 shots on goal per outing and they scored a season-high 20 goals in the win at Rockhurst on March 6.
 
Kira Heiden currently leads the team with 13 goals and she leads the RMAC by scoring 4.33 goals per game. Heiden has a team-best 15 points while Madison Ingman is second with nine points thanks to six goals and three assists. Kathleen Hendershott leads the team with four assists.
 
ON DEFENSE
Westminster ranks seventh in the RMAC with a 15.00 goals-against-average and they have allowed at least 12 goals in all three games this season. Opponents are taking 32.3 shots per game with 79.4 percent of those attempts on cage. The Griffins have forced 50 opponent turnovers and they have 42 draw controls while allowing 43.
 
Heiden, Ingman, and Daisy Mele have each recorded 10 draw controls to lead the Griffins. Kate Adams has a team-best nine ground balls. Annelise Preite leads the team with six caused turnovers while Adams has five CTs.
 
IN CAGE
The Griffins lead the RMAC by making 10.67 saves per game and they sit seventh with a .416 save percentage.
 
Taylor Hekking has started all three games in cage and made 29 saves. She leads the RMAC by averaging 9.67 saves per game. Hekking has a .408 save percentage and 15.20 goals-against-average. Caitlyn Laffey has played in two games with three saves and a .500 save percentage.
 
ALL STREAKS MUST END
Kira Heiden had her streak of 27 consecutive games with a goal come to an end in the Griffins loss at Lindenwood on March 8. The streak ended as the second-longest goal scoring streak in team history. She also finished with the fourth-longest streak of consecutive games with a point at 28-straight games.
 
AND SOME CONTINUE
Katie Adams scored the Griffins lone goal in the loss at Lindenwood and has now scored a goal in 14 consecutive games. The active streak ranks as the sixth-longest such streak in school history and she is second on the team with seven goals this season.
 
IN THE CLUB
During her seven-goal outing at Rockuhurst on March 6, Heiden became the sixth Griffin all-time to reach 100 career points. The junior has piled up 104 points as a Griffin and she is seventh in team history with 80 career goals. She also ranks eighth all-time in assists (24), seventh in shots (131), and third in draw controls (78).
 
RMAC TAKING NOTICE
In their first season playing in the RMAC, the Griffins have been making a name for themselves. Of the first six player of the week awards given by the league this season, three of them went to Griffins. Heiden has twice been named the offensive player of the week – February 23 and March 8 – and Taylor Hekking claimed the defensive award on March 8.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
The Griffins will return to the road for a pair of RMAC games in Colorado next weekend. They will visit CSU-Pueblo on April 2 before a non-conference game at Fort Lewis on April 3. Both of those games will begin at 1 p.m.
