SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's basketball team kept their chances at an even conference record alive with a 77-62 win over Chadron State on Saturday night in the Behnken Field House.

With the win, Westminster is now 14-11 overall this season and they sit 10-11 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with one game to play.

The Griffins took control of Saturday's game early in the first half as they held Chadron State (6-19, 4-17 RMAC) to just five baskets in the period. They scored 14 straight points at one point during the half and they held the Eagles without a basket from 7:30 minutes of action.

Most of the Griffins damage was done on the inside where they scored 34 points to help them shoot 44.3 percent from the floor. Westminster had a 43-30 edge in rebounds and they grabbed 17 offensive rebounds for 23 second chance points.

Jordan Pryor would lead the team in scoring with 15 points off the bench in his final home game as a Griffins. The senior made 5 of 8 shots and hit a trio of 3-pointers in the game. His fellow seniors,
Kenny Woodard and
Isaiah Tademy, scored nine and eight points respectively.

Chadron State would shoot just 33.3 percent from the floor with 13 turnovers. The Eagles were 10 of 30 from beyond the arc and they hit 18 of 22 at the foul line.

Brandon Warr would give the Griffins 10 points and nine rebounds to go with 10 points and six rebounds from
Marcus Bryce.

Billy Johnson led Chadron State with 17 points and Warren Gordon added 13.

Westminster will close the season on Friday when they travel to Grand Junction, Colo., to face Colorado Mesa at 7:30 p.m. MT. The game will be carried live on Griffins TV.
