SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's soccer team closed their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season with a 10-0 win over Black Hills State on wet Friday afternoon at Dumke Field.
Westminster improved to 9-4-3 overall this season and they finished 6-3-3 in RMAC action. With 21 points, the Griffins are currently in fourth place in the conference standings and will finish between that spot and sixth after Sunday's conference action.
The Griffins 10 goals are the most ever scored in a game in program history.
Madison Roemer and
Tiana Cerciello each recorded a hat trick in the day. It was the second of the season for Roemer and there have now been seven hat tricks in team history.
Roemer added a school-record three assists in the game to another school-record nine points. She scored the game's first goal in the 14th minute to earn her sixth game-winner of the season. Roemer had nine shots on the day and put six of those on goal.
Westminster also got goals from
Libby Dearden,
Emily Pascua,
Micah Fredrick, and
HanSena DiNoia in the win. Nine different players tallied an assist on the day as they finished with a school-record 11 as a team.
The Griffins had 41 shots – the second-most in team history – and put 24 of those on goal. They took a school-best 18 corner kicks and held Black Hills State (1-15, 0-11 RMAC) to just four shots.
Breanna Empey earned the win and combined on the shutout with
Hillary Weixler.
Westminster closes out the season on Tuesday when they host Embry-Riddle (Fla.) on Senior Day. The action begins at 3 p.m. with a ceremony honoring the team's seniors taking place before the game. Tickets are available at
