SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Westminster women's volleyball team completed its trip to the Coyote Classic by going 1-1 during Saturday's two matches. The began the day by falling in three sets to Cal Poly Pomona and then earned a four-set win against Cal State Dominguez Hills to close the trip.

Both matches where played in The Den on the campus of tournament host Cal State San Bernardino. With the split of Saturday's matches, Westminster is now 3-5 on the season.

The Griffins struggled to find much offense in the 25-17, 25-18, 25-15 loss to Cal Poly Pomona. The team recorded just 26 kills in the three sets and hit .069 for the match. Pomona had 47 kills and hit .300 with 10.5 blocks.

Alyse Horton led the Griffins with eight kills and 11 digs against Pomona. It was the fourth time this season the senior had double-digit digs and her second straight.
Whitney Wakefield added five kills – a career high – with Jaden green getting four kills.

The night match with Dominguez Hills was a defensive struggle that featured 159 combined digs and 20 blocks. The Griffins had a season high 13 of those blocks and four players were in double figures as the team tallied 74 digs. They held CSUDH to .076 hitting and -.079 in a crucial third set.

Desiree Wickwar led the offense for the Griffins with a season high 10 kills with three blocks. Freshman
Kate Tsourmas had the best match of her young career with seven kills a 10 blocks. It is just the 10th time in team history a player has recorded double-digit blocks in a match.

Horton contributed nine kills and 12 digs with Green and
Amara Culpepper adding eight kills apiece.
Megan Gallegos led all players with 24 digs with Green adding 15.
Jacey Saunders had her first career double-double with 22 assists and 11 digs.

The Griffins will now turn their attention to the team's first season as a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. They begin conference play with two road matches, starting at UC Colorado Springs on Friday at 7 p.m.
