Westminster Men Close Season at LC State, Montana Tech

SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's basketball will plays its final two games of the season this weekend. Westminster plays at No. 22 Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. (MT), before visiting Montana Tech on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. (MT).

Griffin Fast Break: Westminster enters the final weekend of the season at 11-14 overall and they are 4-8 in Frontier Conference play. The Griffins have dropped four of their last five outings overall and six-straight on the road. They have already been eliminated from the upcoming conference tournament.
 
Offense Notebook: The Griffins enter play this week scoring 72.40 points per game which ranks sixth in the Frontier Conference. They are shooting 44.1 percent from the field and they rank 24th in the NAIA by making 70.5 percent at the foul line. The team makes 7.52 threes per outing – 33rd in the NAIA – and they rank 28th in the country by shooting 36.5 percent from beyond the arc. The Griffins distribute 13.96 assists per game – 38th in the NAIA – with a 1.03 assist-to-turnover ratio to place 30th nationally.
 
Defense Notebook: Westminster is giving up 70.40 points per game on the season to rank 36th in the country and they hold the opposition to 44.7 percent shooting. They have held 13 opponents under 70 points, including seven in conference play. Griffin opponents shoot 34.7 percent from beyond the arc and Westminster grabs 33.68 rebounds per game. They are forcing 16.12 turnovers per outing and generate 8.52 steals per game to rank 28th in the country.
 
Leaders: Quincy Bair leads three Griffins that average in double figures at 12.92 points per game. Jordan Pryor averages 12.12 points per game and has made a team-high 56 threes. Kenny Woodard adds 11.44 points per game while shooting 88.8 percent at the foul line. Colton Moon has a team-leading 60 assists and 55 steals while Casey Evans has a team-leading 16 blocked shots.
 
Inside the Numbers: The Griffins have gone 9-5 this season when they lead at halftime and they are 9-2 when leading with five minutes to play in regulation. They are winners in eight of their nine contests when scoring at least 70 points in a game while going 6-2 when grabbing more rebounds than the opposition.
 
Looking Back: Westminster split a pair of home games last week, defeating Great Falls (Mont.), 92-76, before falling to Montana State-Northern, 58-51. Five players scored in double figures as the team shot a season-high 63.6 percent from the field against Great Falls. The Griffins then allowed MSU-Northern to rally from 11 down in the second half to hand them a loss in the final home game of the season.
 
Home Dominance: Westminster has been tough to beat in the Behnken Field House since it opened in 2006. While the Griffins have always been good at home, going 172-36 (.827) since the program was reinstated in 1999, they have compiled a 107-21 (.836) mark in their current home. The Griffins went 8-6 in the Behnken Field House this season.
 
Bombs Away: The Griffins have been taking advantage of the 3-point line this season, ranking 33rd in the NAIA by making 7.52 triples per game. They shoot 36.5 percent from beyond the arc to rank 28th in the nation. The team scores 31.2 percent of their total points from deep while making at least seven treys in a game 16 times. Pryor leads the team by making 2.24 threes per game – 49th in the nation – and he is shooting 36.8 percent from three.
 
Extra Possessions: Westminster has done a good job of creating extra possessions this season by forcing the opposition into 16.12 turnovers per game. They rank 28th in the country by getting 8.52 steals per game and their 2.64 turnover margin is 17th nationally. The Griffins are scoring 18.32 points per game from turnovers which accounts for 25.3 percent of their total scoring average.
 
Balance from Bair: Quincy Bair has been the most all-around player for the Griffins this season and he currently scores a team-best 12.92 points per game. The junior is shooting 48.4 percent from the field and he has scored in double figures 17 times, including a career-high 32 at Montana State-Northern on Jan. 24. He has 29 threes and shoots 44.6 percent from beyond the arc while also grabbing 3.2 rebounds per contest. Bair has added 46 assists, 26 steals and 14 blocked shots to his stat line.
 
Performance from Pryor: Jordan Pryor was named preseason all-conference after being selected as the Frontier Sixth-Man of the Year last season. Pryor is currently scoring 12.12 points per game and making 2.24 threes per outing to rank 49th in the NAIA. He has scored in double figures 14 times on the year made at least three treys in a game 10 times. Pryor has scored 303 points this season and now ranks 20th in team history with 731 career points.
 
Spark off the Bench: Kenny Woodard has given the team a scoring spark off the bench this season. He is currently third on the team in scoring at 11.44 points per night and he is shooting 34.3 percent from beyond the arc. Woodard has scored in double figures 16 times on the year and he has also recorded 55 assists. He shoots 88.8 percent at the foul line to rank fifth in the NAIA.
 
Stealing the Record: Colton Moon enters the week second in school history with 162 career steals. He is three thefts away from becoming the school's all-time leader in the category, surpassing the 164 from Steve Cramer (2001-05). This season, Moon is 13th in the NAIA with 55 steals and he also ranks 11th with an average of 2.20 steals per game. He has recorded at least one steal in all but two games this season and has multiple steals in a game 17 times during the year.
 
Crashing the Boards: Nick Jenson leads the team this season with 159 rebounds and he sits sixth in the Frontier by grabbing 6.36 rebounds per game. The senior has four games with at least 10 rebounds and he has led the team in rebounding during 15 games this season. Jenson collects 2.24 offensive rebounds per game on the year and he ranks first in school history by grabbing 2.26 offensive rebounds per game in his career. He currently ranks eighth in school history with 129 offensive rebounds and 10th with 344 total rebounds.
