SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's volleyball team dropped a tight opening set and then fell in three to No. 22 Colorado School of Mines on Friday night in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match in the Behnken Field House.

Westminster (7-17, 4-12 RMAC) led the opening set 24-23 when their serve was into the net. That led to Colorado Mines (20-5, 14-2) taking three straight and the opening frame, 26-24. The conference leading Orediggers then ran off wins in the next two, 25-12 and 25-18.

It was a tough night offensively for the Griffins as they managed just 25 kills and hit only .061.
Desiree Wickwar led the team with seven kills and she hit .316 in the loss. Westminster surrendered 45 kills and allowed the visitors to hit .252.

Jessica Chellsen added five kills and .333 hitting for the Griffins.
Amara Culpepper and
Alyse Horton had four kills apiece.

Megan Gallegos tallied 13 digs in defeat.

Colorado Mines had three players with double figure kills, led by 11 from Ellie Monarch. Alanna Winfield and Janice Jin added 10 apiece.

Westminster will play its final home match of the season on Saturday when they host Colorado Christian in the Behnken Field House. The match begins at 7 p.m. and the team will honor its four seniors during the intermission between sets two and three. Tickets for the match are available at
