RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Westminster women's volleyball team completed a weekend sweep in South Dakota by defeating South Dakota Mines in four sets on Saturday night in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match at the King Center.
With the win 25-17, 26-24, 22-25, 25-13 win, Westminster wins consecutive matches for the first time this season and they improve to 7-16 overall and 4-11 in the RMAC. South Dakota Mines drops to 7-18 and 3-12.
The Griffins had a stellar night at the net with 16 blocks, the second-most in a four-set match in team history, as they held the home squad to .099 hitting. Each team had 48 kills in the match and the Griffins closed out the win by getting 16 in the fourth set and hitting .378 in the frame.
Amara Culpepper led all players in the match with 17 kills and she hit .196 with two blocks.
Jessica Chellsen added nine kills and .421 hitting. She also matched her season high with four blocks.
Katie Allen recorded a career high 10 blocks while
Alyse Horton had her career high with six blocks.
Taylor Gustafson tallied 34 assists in the win with
Megan Gallegos adding 19 digs.
SDSMT got 14 kills from Mikkella Reese and 11 from Anna Breidt. The Hardrockers had four players in double figures in digs and were led by 15 from Kylee Gorngpratum.
Westminster now returns home for its final two home matches of the season next weekend. They welcome Colorado School of Mines to the Behnken Field House on Friday at 7 p.m. Tickets for both remaining matches are available at
