Volleyball Falls in Four Sets at Home

SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's volleyball team was defeated in four sets by Colorado State University – Pueblo on Saturday night in the Behnken Field House.
 
The Griffins lost for the second straight night and they fall to 5-12 overall and 2-7 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with the 25-18, 23-25, 6-25, 18-25 loss.
 
Westminster got a career high 20 kills from Amara Culpepper. She had nine of them in the first set and the team totaled 20 in the set. Culpepper hit .238 for the match and added one dig.
 
As a team, Westminster recorded 48 kills in the match to 52 from the visitors, CSU-Pueblo (5-12, 3-6). The ThunderWolves hit .250 as a team and held the Griffins to .128 with a 15-1 block advantage.
 
Alyse Horton added 11 kills and nine digs for the Griffins. Megan Gallegos had 23 digs and Tara Ribeiro added 16.
 
CSU-Pueblo got 15 kills and 11 blocks from Oni Lattin. Mariangel Perez added 11 kills.
 
Westminster will head out on the road for a pair of matches next weekend. They begin the trip on Friday at Adams State in Alamosa, Colo.
