BULFFTON, S.C. – The Westminster women's soccer team completed a perfect two-game road trip by picking up a 3-0 win at South Carolina Beaufort on Sunday morning at Fin Land Field.
Westminster (3-0) opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when
Rylei North put a left-footed shot inside the far post for her first goal of the season and the 11th of her career.
Miranda Olsen notched her first assist of the season on the play.
Leading 1-0 at halftime, the Griffins added to their lead in the 61st-minute when
Lexi Tucker blasted a shot from 30 yards out that was just over the keeper's reach and into the net. It was Tucker's first goal of the season and marked the first time this season the Griffins scored multiple goals in a game.
Jessica James would cap the scoring in the 78th-minute when she forced a turnover deep in the USC Beaufort (1-2) zone and beat the keeper for her first-career goal.
Westminster dominated the game throughout and held USCB without a shot in the entire game. The Griffins took 17 shots in the contest with eight of them on goal.
Abi Yanke picked up her third win and shutout of the season in goal.
The Griffins have now started the season without allowing a goal in the first three games. The 270-minute span is currently the ninth-longest such streak in school history. This is also just the second-time in school history the team has started a season 3-0.
After playing their first three games on the road, the Griffins will play at home for the first time on Saturday when they face Eastern Oregon at Dumke Field. That game will begin at noon MT.
