SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's volleyball team makes its final road trip of the regular season this week with a pair of Frontier Conference matches. They will begin the week in Havre, Mont. on Friday when the face Montana State-Northern at 7 p.m. MT. Westminster will then play at Great Falls (Mont.) on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont.

Griffin NotebookWestminster returns to the road at 10-13 overall this season and 4-6 in the Frontier Conference. The Griffins have gone 1-5 in road matches this season and they are coming off a five-set loss at Montana Western last Friday.

The Griffins are averaging 12.13 kills per set on the season while they are hitting .178 as a team. Over their past four matches, the Griffins are recording 13.38 kills per set and hitting .179. They currently rank fifth in the conference with 1,043 kills and sixth in hitting percentage. Westminster leads the Frontier at 1.44 service aces per set and sit second with 124 total aces.

Westminster is giving up 12.09 kills per set to the opposition and allowing them to hit .182. The Griffins are averaging 1.8 blocks per set and also getting 16.03 digs per set. The opposition has recorded 112 aces for an average of 1.30 per set.

Alexis Aalona leads the team and is third in the Frontier with 291 kills and she is hitting .218. The senior average 3.83 kills per set and she also records 3.09 digs, 0.57 blocks, and 0.21 aces per set.
Jessica Chellsen has added 195 kills while hitting .204 with
Amara Culpepper going for 171 kills and a team-high .224 hitting.

Taylor Gustafson leads all Griffins with 735 assists which is third in the Frontier Conference.
Jaden Green has a team-best 25 aces while Culpepper has recorded 60 blocks to rank ninth in the league.

About Montana State-NorthernMSU-Northern begins the week at 5-19 overall this season and 1-10 in the Frontier Conference. They have dropped five straight matches since a four-set win at Montana Western on Sept. 27. The Sky Lights were swept by the Griffins in Salt Lake City on Sept. 25. Dayna Jensen leads the team with 231 kills for an average of 2.85 per set. Jessica Wilcox has recorded a team-best 56 blocks while Sydney Stolearcius is tops with 277 digs.

About Great FallsGreat Falls enters this week's play at 14-11 overall while posting a 5-6 record in league matches. The Argonauts have dropped three straight matches after posting a season-best four-match winning streak. They claimed a 3-1 win over Westminster in the Behnken Field House on Sept. 27. Alyssa McEwan is currently 22nd in the NAIA in hitting percentage at .327 with Madison Wilhelm leading the team with 292 kills.

Alexis Aalona became the second player in school history to reach 1,000 kills for their career. The senior enters this week with 1,041 career kills and she ranks third in school history with an average of 2.71 kills per set. She has 291 kills on the year which is tied for ninth in a single season at Westminster and ranks third in the Frontier Conference this season.

Also Climbing the Digs ChartAalona has also moved into fourth-place in school history with 925 career digs. She is the first player in school history with 900 kills and 900 digs and she still has an outside shot at becoming the fourth player to reach 1,000 career digs. Aalona currently leads the team with 266 digs and she would need to average 15 digs per match over the remaining five scheduled matches to reach 1,000.

Big Year for ChellsenJunior
Jessica Chellsen has been a bright spot on the Westminster attack this season. The junior is currently second on the team with 195 kills and she is hitting .204. She averages 2.29 kills per set and has also recorded 32 blocks. Chellsen has been in double figures in the kills department in nine matches, including a career-high 16 in the win over Evergreen (Wash.) on Aug. 22.

Leaving Her MarkAlyse Horton is also making her way up the career charts at Westminster as she has moved into the top 12 in six career statistical categories. The junior is already 10th all-time in kills with 417 while placing ninth by averaging 1.53 kills per set. Her 228 digs this season has moved her to 12th in school history with 479 career digs and she is also 11th with 489 career points.

Running the ShowFreshman
Taylor Gustafson has been at the center of the Griffin offense all season from her setter position. Gustafson is currently third in the conference with 735 assists and she has set the Griffin attack to an average of 12.13 kills per set. She currently ranks ninth in program history for assists in a season and she has the fourth-most assists by a freshman in team history.

Coming on StrongMegan Gallegos has started to become a factor from her libero position. The freshman has recorded 249 digs on the season and her 3.19 digs per set average is good for ninth in the conference. After recording at least 10 digs in a match one time during the first 13 matches of the year, Gallegos has 10 straight matches in double figures. She has gone for 20-plus digs during six of those outings, including a career-high 27 against Rocky Mountain on Oct. 16. Since becoming the starting libero on Sept. 13 at Carroll, Gallegos is averaging 5.23 digs per set and leads the team with 183 digs.
