SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster College women's volleyball team concludes a three-game home stand with a pair of contests in the Behnken Field House this weekend. Rocky Mountain (Mont.) comes to town on Friday at 7 p.m. before Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) makes the trip on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Both matches will be carried live on Griffins TV and on Comcast 6 in northern Utah. You can also watch the match on Roku players by downloading the Livestream app and searching Griffins. GRIFFIN NOTEBOOK
Westminster enters the weekend at 9-10 on the season and 3-3 in Frontier Conference play. They are coming off a 3-0 sweep of Montana Western last Saturday at home. The Griffins are now 4-2 at home on the season and 9-5 against unranked opponents.
The Griffins are recording 11.9 kills per set while hitting .179 for the season. They have notched more kills than the opposition in 11 matches this season and gone 8-3 in them. Westminster also claims 1.2 service aces per set while also distributing 11 assists per set.
Westminster is allowing 11.7 kills per set and holding the opposition to .171 hitting efficiency. As a team, the Griffins are getting 15.4 digs per set while also posting 2.0 blocks per frame. Westminster has held 11 opponents below .200 hitting in the match, including five of the last six.
AGAINST THE OPPOSITION
Rocky Mountain leads the Griffins 13-8 in all-time meetings. Westminster is just 4-6 in matches played in Salt Lake City, but they snapped a 10-match losing streak to Rocky with a five-set win at home last October.
Lewis-Clark State leads the all-time series 20-7 and has won the last 15 meetings. The Warriors are 7-3 in Salt Lake City with six straight road wins against the Griffins. Westminster hasn't beaten LCSC since a 3-0 sweep in the Behnken Field House in 2006.
AALONA ON THE ATTACK
Outside hitter
Alexis Aalona is averaging 2.83 kills per set to rank sixth in the Frontier Conference. She has been the team leader in kills in 13 matches and 10 times reached double figures in kills. Aalona matched her career high with 23 kills in the loss at Montana Tech.
Aalona also leads the team with seven double-doubles and is second on the team with 199 digs. She has been in double figures in digs in 10 matches. The junior is third on the team with 42 blocks and is averaging 0.55 blocks per set.
ALL ABOUT ATKINSON
Senior
Emily Atkinson has recorded 569 assists this season and she is second in the Frontier with an average of 7.49 assists per set. In the match against Cornerstone (Mich.), Atkinson became the Westminster career leader in assists as she notched her 2,810th career assist. She enters this weekend with 3,305 career helpers.
Atkinson ranks third on the team with 144 digs and she has posted four double-doubles. She has been in double figures in digs during four matches, including a season-high 15 at Montana Western. Atkinson is tied for the team lead with 23 service aces and her 104 career aces are tied with Bree Riet for the Westminster career lead.
DIGGING WITH KORDAKIS

Kyndall Kordakis has notched 376 digs on the season and is averaging 4.95 per set to rank second in the Frontier and 36th in the NAIA. She has been the team leader in digs in all 19 matches the team has played and 10 times she has reached 20 digs.
Kordakis now has 1,676 digs in her Westminster career and she ranks second in school history on that category. Riet holds the all-time lead with 1,712 digs which means Kordakis needs to just 37 digs to become the all-time leader. At her current average, Westminster would need to play eight sets this weekend for Kordakis to set the record at home.

Junior
Mayra Ramirez has recorded 74 blocks this season and she is averaging 0.99 blocks per set to rank 47th in the NAIA. Ramirez has led or tied for the team lead in blocks during 13 matches and she has totaled at least five blocks in seven matches.
Ramirez has also been efficient on the offensive end. She leads the squad with a .260 hitting efficiency while averaging 2.00 kills per set. Ramirez was named to the Julie Martin Memorial Classic All-Tournament Team after averaging 1.86 kills and 0.86 blocks per set during the four matches. She hit .231 during the weekend and also picked up six digs.
NORMAN NEARING 150
Head Coach Kim Norman is in her 10th season as the head coach of the women's volleyball team at Westminster in 2013. During that time, Norman has guided the Griffins to a 144-138 overall record and a .511 winning percentage. The team has four winning seasons and has gone 76-55 (.586) in Frontier Conference play while winning regular season titles in 2005 and 2006.
