Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Westminster College women's lacrosse team opened the 2012 season with three wins at the Santa Barbara Shootout over the weekend.  Westminster, the defending Rocky Mountain Women's Lacrosse League champions, began the fourth year of the program in Santa Barbara for a third straight season.

The season began with the Griffins taking an 18-7 win over Duke Club on Friday.  This is the second consecutive season that Westminster has started the season with a victory after dropping the season opener in the first two years of the program.

Saturday's first game saw the Griffins use overtime to defeat San Diego State, 15-12. It was just the second overtime game in school history with the other being a won over Utah in last season's RMWLL Championship Game.

The Griffins completed the weekend with a 17-4 win over St. Benedict.  The win moves the team to 3-0 to start the season for the second straight year and the second time in school history.

Westminster will return to action on Mar. 2 when they travel to Colorado Springs for two games.  They will face Air Force and Denver in a double-header that day.
