POCATELLO, Idaho – The Westminster College men's & women's track team opened the 2012 indoor season over the weekend at the Snake River Open hosted by Idaho State University. The meet was held at Holt Arena and featured teams from NCAA DI along with the NAIA.
Jennylee Swallow was entered in the women's 60 Meter Dash and the 200 Meter Dash for Westminster. She posted a time of 8.42 in the 60 to finish 14th. Her time of 27.13 in the 200 earned a ninth-place result. Both of those times set a new school record for the respective event.
Allison Bateman finished 20th in the 400 Meter Run with a time of 1:03.81, setting a school record in the process.
Nicole Roberts set a Westminster record in the 60 Meter Hurdles with her time of 9.44 while finishing 11th overall.
Justine Kueffner finished 25th in the 60 m Hurdles with her time of 10.49.
Kueffner jumped 1.52m (4' 11¾") in the Women's High Jump to finish 8th and became the first Griffin to successfully complete a high jump attempt. She then posted a long jump distance of 4.31m (14' 1¾") to finish 22nd overall. Her distance ranks second in school history. Maddison Coss became the first Griffin in compete in the Shot Put and finished 16th with a distance of 9.91m (32' 6¼").
The men's side also saw good results for the Griffins.
Sean McKenzie finished 15th in the 60 Meter Dash with a time of 7.34. The 1-Mile Run featured three Griffins with
Peter Chew leading the way with a 16th-place finish with a time of 4:55.22.
Jef Marsicola went 5:01.33 to place 18th and
Matt Nagie was 19th with his time of 5:01.95.
Oliver Lange finished 17th in the 3,000 Meter Run after posting a time of 9:42.13.
Westminster will be in action again on January 21 when they compete at the Bronco Invitational. The meet will be held in Nampa, Idaho and is hosted by Boise State University.
