SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's basketball team has signed
Amy Krommenhoek to a Frontier Conference letter of intent, head coach
Shelley Jarrard announced today. Krommenhoek becomes the first recruit to sign at Westminster since Jarrard took over the program on June 7.
“We are very excited to have Amy become a part of Westminster basketball,” Jarrard commented. “She is a quality person and a skilled player who will fit well with our team. She is an excellent shooter who can stretch defenses, and someone who we believe can do great things immediately for our program.”
Krommenhoek will join the Griffins after a redshirt season at the University of Utah last year. She is from American Fork, Utah where she was a three-year all-state player at American Fork HS, including first-team honors as a senior. During her senior year, Krommenhoek averaged over 12 points per game with 47 three-pointers and was named all-region and all-Utah Valley in helping lead American Fork to the 2009 5A State Championship. She also averaged 11.5 points and made 43 3-point baskets for the Cavemen as a junior.
Krommenhoek is the daughter of Bob and Janis Krommenhoek and is the second-youngest of nine children. Her sister Julie is a former women's basketball All-American at the University of Utah.
Westminster is coming off a 28-7 season in 2010-11. The team advanced to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championships for the first time in school history while winning a third straight Frontier Conference championship.
