Shelley Jarrard as the new women's basketball coach, Director of Athletics
Shay Wyatt announced today. Jarrard becomes the fourth coach since the program was reinstated in 1999 and she replaces JD Gustin who stepped down last month to accept a position at the University of Utah.
“I am pleased to announce
Shelley Jarrard as our next women's basketball coach at Westminster College,” said Wyatt. “Shelley brings outstanding experience to the position both as a coach and player and comes highly recommended. Her knowledge, experience, success, passion for the game and desire to positively teach students are impressive. Shelley is a good fit for Westminster College and is very enthusiastic about becoming our coach and continuing the academic and athletic tradition of our women's basketball program. Based upon the level of interest this position received, it was evident that our previous coaches and student-athletes have established a national caliber NAIA women's basketball program at our institution.”
Jarrard comes to Westminster from Salt Lake Community College where she served as the lead assistant coach for the Bruins and played a pivotal role in SLCC winning back to back conference championships. In this role, she assisted student-athletes with career counseling and choice of major, class scheduling, tutoring and study sessions, eligibility, graduation requirements, and transfer information.
"I'm excited to be coaching at a school with strong academic excellence and successful athletic programs. I feel as though Westminster College is a great fit for me and I look forward to working with the talented team and administration." said Jarrard.
