Box Score 2 SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's lacrosse team picked up two win on Dumke Field on Saturday to extend its season-opening winning streak to seven games. Westminster defeated Colorado Mines 16-3 in the first game and then dropped a Utah All-Star team 17-6 in the night cap.
Westminster moves its record to 7-0 while the win over Mines improves them to 3-0 in RMWLL games. The seven straight wins to start the year is a school record.
Westminster controlled the action all day against Colorado Mines. The Griffins recorded 41 shots to just seven by the visitors. They also held a 42-21 advantage in ground balls and won draw controls 15-4.
Nine different players scored for Westminster with seven of them scoring twice.
Chelsea Farrell had two goals and two assists while
Kaely Kernan and
Dechie Sumampong went for two goals and one assists each.
Kaicee Beal,
Jillian Tesfazion,
Sage Johnson, and
Alexa Ferdig all had two goals.
Erin Foslid collected six ground balls and
Jasmin Alves made three saves between the pipes.
Westminster was also in control against the Utah All-Stars. The Griffins outshot the Stars 32-11 and won 17-0f-25 draw controls. Westminster scored the game's first 10 goals and led 11-2 at halftime.
Lindsey Mark led Westminster with six goals and one assist. Farrell added three goals and two assists with Johnson scoring five points behind two goals and three assists. Foslid and Sumampong each scored twice while Dani Southworth scored her first goal of the season.
Carson Chambers gathered five ground balls and
Regan Lelli made five saves.
Westminster will continue this current home stand on Tuesday, March 15 when they host Utah at 5:30 p.m. on Dumke Field.
