Box Score WESTWEGO, La. – The 10th-ranked Westminster College men's basketball team dropped a 79-75 decision to No. 7 Texas Wesleyan at the Big Easy Challenge on Thursday evening.
Westminster finishes 1-1 at the Big Easy Challenge and are now 12-4 overall on the season. Texas Wesleyan improves to 7-2 with the victory.
The Griffins shot 50% from the field in the game and recorded 15 assists on 32 made field goals. They had five makes from beyond the arc and turned 11 offensive rebounds into 20 points. Westminster had 36 total rebounds and held TWU to 47.5% shooting.
Jake Orchard led the way for the Griffins with 19 points. Orchard had a tough night shooting the ball as he finished 8-of-17 overall and 2-of-6 from beyond the arc.
Tanner Gregory added 17 points and six rebounds while
Jordan Hayter scored 11 points.
Alex Drecksel scored eight points and grabbed a team-best seven rebounds off the bench.
Eric Frederick led four Rams in double figures with 26 points while grabbing 10 rebounds for a double-double. Oscar Griffin had 21 points and seven rebounds.
Westminster now moves to Frontier Conference play when they open the conference season in Jan. 6 in Butte, Mont. against Montana Tech.
