Women’s Basketball Signs BYU Transfer Jenteal Jackson

SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's basketball team has signed Jenteal Jackson to a Frontier Conference letter of intent head coach JD Gustin announced today. Jackson will join the Griffins after spending two seasons at Brigham Young University. She will also play for the Westminster women's golf team.

Jackson is a 5-7 guard from Salt Lake City, Utah where she prepped at Skyline High School. She was the 2008 Ms. Basketball in the state of Utah and was twice named First Team All-State. She appeared in 31 games during her two seasons at BYU and scored 33 points with 23 rebounds, 21 assists, and 10 steals. As a freshman, Jackson was named Mountain West Academic All-Conference.

"Jenteal is a tremendous addition to Westminster College and our basketball program,” Gustin commented. “She is an outstanding young woman, terrific student and a very talented player. She has special leadership skills, unteachable basketball savvy, and it is a proven winner. Jenteal has All-American potential and could possibly help make our backcourt one of the elite in the NAIA."

Jackson will also compete with the Westminster golf team. She appeared in one tournament for BYU, finishing in a tie for 75th at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in 2009. Jackson had an average round of 78.67 during the event and posted a low round of 77. In high school, she was a four-year letterwinner in golf and is a five-time Utah Jr. Golf State Amateur Champion.

The Westminster women's basketball team is coming off a 27-7 season and a trip to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championship. They won a second straight regular season Frontier Conference championship and were ranked a school-best ninth in the final NAIA coaches' poll of the season.
