Box Score GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Westminster women's basketball team bounced back from its first Frontier Conference loss in two seasons last Friday by defeating Great Falls 75-46 on Friday night. No. 14 Westminster led 28-17 at the intermission and improves to 18-5 on the season and 7-1 in the Frontier Conference.
The Griffins shot 56.8% from the floor after a season low 30.6% at Lewis-Clark State in their last outing. They also made 11-of-21 from beyond the arc to help overcome to 14-of-23 from the foul line. Westminster turned eight offensive rebounds into nine points and recorded 16 assists on their 25 total field goals.
Defensively the Griffins held Great Falls (3-17, 0-8) to just 26% shooting in handing them an eight consecutive loss. Westminster forced 23 turnovers which resulted in 24 points for the visitors. UGF also struggled from deep, making just 1-of-14 from beyond the arc.
Nicole Yazzie led three Griffins in double figures with 18 points. Yazzie returned to the starting line-up after missing two games and then coming off the bench at LC State.
Allie Eastman added 13 points, including three triples, and five rebounds.
McKenzie Jessop finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Kirilynn Winkler and Katie Wright led the Argos with 10 points apiece. Great Falls forced 22 Westminster turnovers, but scored just 10 points from those opportunities.
Westminster completes the road trip on Saturday, February 6 when they visit Montana State-Northern. That game will begin at 6:00 p.m. from Havre, Montana.
