This Week
It's back to the Behnken Field House for the Westminster women's basketball team this week. No. 14 Westminster (15-4, 4-0 Frontier) will entertain Carroll College on Thursday, January 21 and Rocky Mountain College on Saturday, February 23. Both games will begin at 5:30 p.m.
The game against Carroll (10-8, 1-2) will be broadcast live on College Fanz as the NAIA Game of the Week. College Fanz is the world's largest online college sports community. During the game, Westminster will be attempting to set a Behnken Field House attendance record.
Rocky (5-11, 3-0) comes to town on Country Western Night. Students are encouraged to get out your cowboy hats and boots and wear them to the game. Stick around for a halftime performance from Jean's Golden Girls during the men's game.
Westminster enters the week winners of 11 consecutive games and 18 straight Frontier Conference regular season contests. They claimed an 85-64 win against Montana Tech on January 15 and followed that with an 8271 win at Montana Western the following night. The Griffins climbed to 14th in the NAIA Coaches' Poll that was released on January 18, matching the highest ranking in school history.

Live Stats will be available for each game this week beginning about 10 minutes prior to tipoff each night. There will be a Live Video stream of the game against Rocky on January 23 that starts around 5:15 p.m. There is no audio available during the video stream and the fee is $3. About Carroll
Carroll College makes the trip to Salt Lake City with a 10-8 overall record and a 1-2 record in Frontier Conference games. They dropped a 64-61 decision against Rocky Mountain College in their last outing on January 15. The Saints have gone 1-3 in their previous four games after winning 5-of-6 previous to that. Elly Bruursema leads the team in scoring at 13.2 points per game and shoots 38.9% from the floor. Sara Meyer is the leading rebounder at 5.4 per contest.

About Rocky Mountain College
Rocky Mountain College makes the trip to Lewiston and Salt Lake City with a 5-11 overall record, but they have gone 3-0 to begin Frontier Conference action. The team began the year 0-8 before going 2-0 at the Westminster Fall Classic in December. Tana Stewart leads the team at 11.6 points per game while her 6.3 rebounds are also best on the squad. Kalli McCloskey is 26th nationally with her 43 total steals.

Just Keep Winning
Westminster is riding an 11-game winning streak which is the second longest such streak in school history. The Griffins ran 17 wins together during the 2008-09 season to set a school record. They won nine straight during the 2000-01 season and eight straight to open the year last season. Westminster is currently riding an 18-game winning streak against Frontier Conference foes in regular season action.
From Way Downtown
Once again Westminster is not afraid to fire from long range. Westminster currently ranks second in the NAIA with 185 total makes from beyond the arc and are fifth with an average of 9.7 makes per game. The 41.5% they shoot from deep is second nationally.
Nicole Yazzie leads the team and is 11th nationally with 45 total threes. She ranks 11th nationally and is second in the Frontier by shooting 45.0% from distance.
Keshia Catten shoots 42.6% from beyond the arc to rank fourth in the conference and 17th nationally.
Magical Mark
The Griffins are 9-0 this season when they score 80-plus points. They have gone 6-4 when they fail to reach the 80-point barrier, but have won six straight when not scoring 80. Westminster has allowed the opposition to reach 80 points in four games and is 2-2 in those contests. In the past two seasons, Westminster is 26-0 when they score at least 80 points.
Jessop Does it All
McKenzie Jessop is posting some solid numbers during her senior season. Jessop currently leads the team in scoring at 13.4 points per game and also ranks fifth in the conference in that category. Her 57.1% field goal percentage leads the conference as does her 3.1 steals per game. Her 131 rebounds lead the team and her 5.7 defensive rebounds per game is second in the Frontier. Jessop is also ranked in the top 10 in the conference in free throw percentage, assists, steals, and assist/turnover ratio.
Freshmen Play Big Minutes
Westminster has two freshmen that start and play big minutes for the team this season.
Allie Eastman has started 18 games this season while
Nicole Yazzie has made nine starts. Yazzie is second on the team in scoring with 241 points and leads the squad with 69 assists. As a starter, Yazzie is scoring 14.3 points per game and shoots 55.6% from the floor. Eastman currently scores 11.8 points per game and leads the team with 31 offensive rebounds. Three times this season, Eastman has led the team in scoring including a 21 point performance at Montana Tech last Friday.
Weekly Awards Continue for Griffins
Two weeks removed from being named Frontier Conference Player of the Week,
Keshia Catten won the award again this week. For the week, she averaged 18.5 points per game. Catten hit 67%of her field goals (14-of-22) and 62% of her three-point field goals (8-of-13). Jessop won the award the week between the two Catten wins, giving the Griffins three consecutive weeks with the award winner.
Frontier Conference Playoffs
The 2010 Frontier Conference Tournament will again be played on the campus of the higher seed in each game. The opening round of the women's tournament will take place on Wednesday, March 3, with the top-four teams hosting the remaining four teams. The current standing would see the Griffins playing host to Montana Western in an opening round game. Westminster has a magic number of nine to host an opening round game.
National Girls and Women in Sports Day
Westminster will host Montana Tech on Saturday, February 13 as part of the National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Westminster will be offering a free sports and recreation clinic for all girls between the ages of 6-14. Mention National Girls and Women in Sports Day and girls and one guest will be admitted for FREE to the game. Any additional family members pay only $1. There will be a halftime shooting contest for all girls and an autograph session with the Westminster women's basketball team after the game.
Next Week
Westminster begins a three-game road swing by heading to Lewiston, Idaho to take on nationally ranked Lewis-Clark State College. The game on Saturday, January 30 will begin at 7:00 p.m. from the Lewiston Activity Center.
