This Week
It's back to the Behnken Field House for the Westminster men's basketball team this week. No. 13 Westminster (13-5, 3-1 Frontier) will entertain Carroll College on Thursday, January 21 and Rocky Mountain College on Saturday, February 23. Both games will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The game against Carroll (8-9, 1-2) will be broadcast live on College Fanz as the NAIA Game of the Week. College Fanz is the world's largest online college sports community. During the game, Westminster will be attempting to set a Behnken Field House attendance record.
Rocky (8-10, 3-0) comes to town on Country Western Night. Students are encouraged to get out your cowboy hats and boots and wear them to the game. During halftime Jean's Golden Girls will make their second appearance in the Behnken Field House.
Westminster enters the week after having their 10-game winning streak snapped at Montana Western on January 16. The Griffins opened the Frontier Conference season with three consecutive wins before the Western loss. They average 72 points per game and shoot 49% from the floor to rank 11th nationally. They currently lead the Frontier in assists and assist/turnover ratio.

Live Stats will be available for each game this week beginning about 10 minutes prior to tipoff each night. There will be a Live Video stream of the game against Rocky on January 23 that starts around 7:15 p.m. There is no audio available during the video stream and the fee is $5. About Carroll College
Carroll comes to town at 8-9 overall and 1-2 in the Frontier Conference. They have dropped two straight games and six of the last seven games they have played. The Saints dropped a 62-59 decision at Rocky Mountain College on January 15. Offensively they score 73.8 points per game while shooting 44.5% from the field. Andy Garland is the team's leading scorer at 18.3 points per game and he also leads them with 153 rebounds. Chris Medina is second in scoring at 16.5 points a night.

About Rocky Mountain College
Rocky Mountain College enters the week at 8-10 overall and a perfect 3-0 in conference play. The defending NAIA National Champions have won five straight games after a 3-10 start to their title defense. Rocky averages 78.2 points per game and shoot 43.9% from the field. They are third in the nation with an average of 8.7 makes from beyond the arc per game. Nate Richardson is the team's leading scorer at 17.1 points and his 6.1 assists per game lead the Frontier. Anthony Allen leads the team and is second in the conference with an 8.3 rebounding average.

Three Headed Monster
Westminster has been led all season by the combo of
Weston Anderson,
Blair Prowse, and
Ben Walker. All three players average double figures in scoring and one of the three has been the team leader in scoring in all 18 games played this season. Prowse leads the team with 287 points and 55 triples. Walker has 255 points and leads everyone with 113 rebounds. Anderson has 246 points and a team-best 73 assists.
Stock Rising
Junior
Michael Stockton has become the Griffins top player off the bench. He averages 7.4 points and is second on the team with 57 assists in 18 games off the bench. The six foot guard is shooting 51.1% from the field this season and his 30 steals is the 46th most in the NAIA. Stockton grabbed a career high 10 rebounds at Montana Western on January 16 to go with nine points and two assists.
In the Polls
The Westminster men's basketball team is currently ranked No. 13 in the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Poll that was released on January 18. The Griffins dropped three spots from No. 10 in the January 11 poll. Westminster received 185 points in the recent poll that has Mountain State (W.Va.) as the nation's No. 1 team. The Griffins began the season at No. 9 in the preseason poll. The next poll will be released on January 25.
Massey Ratings
Westminster is ranked seventh in the Massey Ratings for the second consecutive week. The Massey Ratings are a computer ranking system that compares all NAIA teams based on their season results. The ratings compare teams using several factors including offense efficiency, defense efficiency, home court advantage, and strength of schedule. The rankings are compiled weekly and released each Monday throughout the season.
Westminster is currently ninth in defense efficiency and eighth in strength of schedule. Concordia (Calif.) is the current No. 1 team in the ratings, followed by Oklahoma Baptist and Mountain State (W.Va.). The Frontier Conference is currently the third rated conference thanks to having three teams in the top 18 of the ratings. Montana Western is 17th this week followed by Montana State-Northern in 18th. This week's opponents Carroll and Rocky Mountain are 48th and 41st respectively.
Coaches like the Griffins
The Westminster men's basketball team was selected to win the Frontier Conference according to a poll of the conference coaches. The Griffins received 47 total points and five first-place votes in the poll of the eight conference coaches. Defending NAIA national champion Rocky Mountain College finished second with 44 points and three first-place votes.
Frontier Conference Playoffs
The 2010 Frontier Conference Tournament will again be played on the campus of the higher seed in each game. The opening round of the women's tournament will take place on Thursday, March 4, with the top-four teams hosting the remaining four teams. The current standing would see the Griffins playing host to Carroll in an opening round game. Westminster has a magic number of 10 to host an opening round game.
Next Week
Westminster begins a three-game road swing by heading to Lewiston, Idaho to take on Lewis-Clark State College. The game on Saturday, January 30 will begin at 9:00 p.m. from the Lewiston Activity Center.
