Box Score BUTTE, Mont. – The Westminster women's basketball team shot 72.4% in the second half and ran away from Montana Tech 85-64 on Friday night in Frontier Conference action. The 15th-ranked Griffins held just a 31-26 advantage at the intermission, but went 21-of-29 in the final 20 minutes to claim their 10th consecutive victory. Westminster improves to 14-4 on the season and 3-0 in the conference.
Behind the second half shooting, Westminster finished the game shooting 54% from the field. They entered the game as the top shooting team in the nation at 50.3%. They also went 9-of-22 from beyond the arc, including 7-of-8 in the second half. Defensively they limited Tech to just 32.8% shooting and forced 13 turnovers.
Westminster had four players reach double figures, led by 21 points from
Allie Eastman. The freshman from Woodruff, Utah shot 9-of-13 while adding six rebounds and four assists.
McKenzie Jessop finished with 18 points and five rebounds.
Nicole Yazzie had 15 while
Keshia Catten scored 14.
Jessie Depell led Montana Tech with 18 points. Tech got 31 points off the bench, led by 11 from Jenessa Todd. The loss drops Tech to 11-4 overall and 1-2 in the Frontier Conference.
Westminster concludes the road trip on Saturday, January 16 when they face Montana Western in Dillon, Montana. Tipoff between the Griffins and Bulldogs is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
