Men’s Basketball Runs Winning Streak to Nine with 81-54 Defeat of Great Falls

Blair Prowse scored a season-high 25 points to help No. 12 Westminster to an 81-54 defeat of Great Falls on Saturday night.

SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's basketball team shot 70.8% from the field in the second half and cruised to an 81-54 win over Great Falls on Saturday night in the Behnken Field House. No. 12 Westminster (12-4, 2-0) improves to 23-0 all-time against Great Falls (4-12, 0-2) and wins for the ninth consecutive time this season.

Westminster opened the game with a 20-8 run over the first 7:23. They connected of four triples during that stretch, getting two apiece from Weston Anderson and Blair Prowse. They pushed the halftime advantage to 20 behind a 15-6 run over the final nine minutes.

Westminster finished the game shooting 66% from the field and went 10-of-20 from beyond the arc. The 10 makes from three is the most in a game this season, topping the eight they made on Thursday night. The offense was efficient all night as they recorded 25 assists on 31 field goals and only committed eight turnovers. Defensively the forced 20 Great Falls turnovers which resulted in 28 Westminster points and 12 fast break points.

“I am really impressed with how we executed tonight,” head coach Tommy Connor said. “I'm proud of the guys' effort and to get 25 assists on 31 field goals with only eight turnovers is impressive.”

Prowse finished with a season-high 25 points on 9-of-10 shooting. Prowse made a career high six triples on seven attempts and came up with three steals. Ben Walker added 15 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Anderson finished with 11 points and six assists.

JayTee Tarpley led great Falls with 12 points and seven rebounds. Dyston Madsen added 11 points and Norman Towns chipped in nine points off the bench. Great Falls outrebounded the Griffins 27-20 and collected nine offensive rebounds which resulted in six second chance points.

Westminster will now hit the road for two games beginning on Friday, January 16 at Montana Tech. That game will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Butte, Montana.
