2009-10 SCHEDULE

SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster women's basketball coach JD Gustin announced the schedule for the 2009-10 season on Monday afternoon. The Griffins have 15 games on the non-conference slate, plus three exhibition games against Utah NCAA Division I teams. The Griffins will look to continue a 14-game Frontier Conference winning streak when conference play begins on January 7, 2010.

The season begins against William Jessup in Rocklin, California on October 30. That trip concludes with a Halloween game against Bethany in Scotts Valley, California. The Griffins next two opponents are in-state foes Utah on November 3, and Brigham Young on November 7. Both of these games are exhibition games.

The 2009 home opener is slated for November 12 when the Griffins host Point Loma Nazarene in the 6:00 p.m. game of the Westminster Invitational. They will also face College of Idaho and Westmont at the event being played at the Behnken Field House.

A trip to Jackson, Tennessee for games with Union (Tenn.), Lambuth, and Freed Hardeman will follow the Westminster Invitational. This is the first regular season trip to Tennessee for the Westminster program. The Griffins will face Northwest (Wash.) and Evergreen State in Olympia, Washington over Thanksgiving weekend.

When December rolls around, Westminster will host the Westminster Classic in the Behnken Field House. Over the three days of the event, Westminster will face Northern New Mexico twice and San Diego Christian. The non-conference slate concludes with an exhibition game at Southern Utah and contests with Emmanual and Union (Ky.) in Lake Wales, Florida.

The Frontier Conference slate begins with a home game against Montana State-Northern on January 7. Rival Carroll College comes to Salt Lake City on January 21 while Lewis-Clark State comes to town on February 27. L-C State snapped the Griffins 16-game winning streak in the Behnken Field House last season.

The Frontier Conference Tournament will be played on campus sites on March 3-6. The NAIA National Championships will be played in Jackson, Tennessee on March 17-23.

Westminster went 27-7 last season and won the Frontier Conference regular season championship with a perfect 14-0 record. They advanced to the second round of the NAIA National Championship for the second time in three years after defeating Loyola in the opening round.
