Griffins Win Inaugural Game

SALT LAKE CITY – Playing the first game in school history, the Westminster women's lacrosse team defeated Wyoming by a score of 17-8. Westminster wasted no time getting started as Erika Rebentisch scored just 12 second into the game. Westminster scored the game's first three goals and carried a 9-3 lead into halftime.

Wyoming scored the first four goals of the second half before the Griffins went on a 8-0 run to put the game out of reach. Rebentisch finished with five goals as did teammate Amanda McIntyre. McIntyre also added one assist. Sage West scored four goals with one assist while Lauryn Simmons found the back of the net twice. Stephanie Schafer added the other goal for Westminster. Marti Denkers recorded eight saves in goal in earning the first win in school history.

Westminster returns to action on Sunday, March 8 when they host Northern Colorado. The game begins at 9:00 a.m. on Dumke Field.
