Before Westminster
- Spent two seaons at Utah State Eastern
- Committed to Westminster College following his sophomore campaign
- Graduated in 2018 from Snow Canyon High School where he was a team captain and all-state selection as a senior

- Son of Jennifer and Troy Tholen
- Has one brother, Max and one sister, Cienna
- Also played basketball and rugby growing up
- A Utah native, Alex enjoys skiing and being in the outdoors in his free time.
- Conducted research in conjunction with the Great Salt Lake Institute alongside professor, David Parrot
- His favorite team is Chelsea FC
