David Thomas begins his first season an Assistant Coach for the Griffin's Men's Basketball program in 2021. He makes the move to Westminster after spending the 2019-20 season as an Associate Head Coach at Park University in Gilbert, Ariz.
Coach Thomas earned his Master's in Organizational Learning while serving as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Colorado Christian from 2017-2019.
Thomas' college coaching experience comes on the heels of a storied youth coaching background where he was most recently the Director and Head Coach for Power Basketball Academy in Tucson, Ariz.-- a program that produced over 50 NCAA and NAIA student-athletes under Thomas' watch. In addition to his AAU responsibilities, Thomas also held two separate high school head coaching positions, earning several Division III Coach of the Year accolades in 2016.
Thomas spent time as an assistant for Hall of Fame High School Head Coach Brian Peabody. Along with Peabody and coach Mike Morgan, Thomas helped Ironwood Ridge High School achieve back-to-back, undefeated seasons that each culminated in state tournament appearances with one sectional championship.
His coaching career dates back to his time as a student-athlete at Arizona Christian University where he played soccer and basketball from 2006-2010. While attending Arizona Christian, he got his start in coaching at the youth level with Ironwood Ridge HS, Paradise Valley HS and Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Middle School.
Coach Thomas lives in the Salt Lake City area with his wife Ashley (m. 2011) and their two sons, Christopher Landon (eight) and Benjamin Dean (three).
