Biography

Personal: Freshman Naena Bland is anything but her namesake. In fact, the 5-foot-8 middle and distance specialist from Smithfield, Utah, jogs south to Westminster having tasted a downright spicy career at Sky View High School. While maintaining a perennial presence on the Sky View Honor Roll, Naena graduated as an academic top 10%er, all the while playing Bobcat Basketball and captaining the XC and Track teams. Naena will stagger the starting line in her collegiate debut as the holder of PR’s that match the current Griffin record books, including a 1:00 flat – 400M, 2:25 – 800M, and 4 times around in a 5:46 – 1600M.

While she does allow for the ordinary pleasure of reading, Neana’s downtime is not boring either, as she continues to enjoy basketball and soccer. The rest of the Bland clan consists of parents Fred and Teri, brothers Richard and Fred Jr, and sisters Raye and Danella.
