Grieser and Gilmore Lead Griffins in Battle at Fort Lewis

DURANGO, Colo. — Westminster volleyball took on Fort Lewis in RMAC action Tuesday night at Whalen Gymnasium, falling 0-3 (16-25, 19-25, 21-25), with the Griffins producing their most efficient hitting of the match in a hard-fought third set.

GAME BREAKDOWN

Set One
Fort Lewis took the opener 25-16. Elsa Gilmore and Kyra Mahler each hit .500, combining for five kills, and Nora Elliot and Apiline White each served an ace while going perfect from the line. Ava Livolsi was perfect both serving and passing, adding three digs, and Jocelyn Grieser and Isabella Deantoni each passed a perfect set in serve receive.

Set Two
Fort Lewis won the second set 25-19. Kyra Mahler again hit .500 with three kills, and Jocelyn Grieser added two kills on a .200 clip, a perfect reception set, and a solo block. Alie Coleman chipped in three kills on a .143 clip with a block assist, and Tiia Heikkinen served an ace and was perfect from the line, going 7-for-7. Apiline White and Isabella Deantoni each passed a perfect set, and Ava Livolsi finished with six digs.

Set Three
Westminster turned in its best offensive set of the match, hitting .250 as a team in a 21-25 set. Jocelyn Grieser led the way with four kills on a .500 clip for a team-high 4.5 points, and Elsa Gilmore added four kills of her own on a .286 clip. Clara Philipsson chipped in three kills on a .286 clip, and Apiline White added two kills on a .250 clip to go with a perfect reception set and five digs. Alie Coleman contributed two block assists and a solo block, Nora Elliot ran the offense with six assists and passed a perfect set, Isabella Deantoni was perfect from the service line, and Ava Livolsi passed a perfect set of her own with six digs.

GRIFFIN PERFORMANCES
Jocelyn Grieser and Elsa Gilmore each led Westminster with seven kills, with Grieser hitting .278 and pacing the team with 8.5 points, tied by Alie Coleman's own 8.5. Kyra Mahler hit .444 with five kills. Nora Elliot and Tiia Heikkinen ran the offense with 12 and 13 assists, respectively. Libero Ava Livolsi turned in a match-high 15 digs, and Apiline White was perfect passing across the entire match, finishing 10-for-10 in serve receive.

As a team, Westminster finished with 31 kills, 27 assists, three aces, 34 digs and six block assists.
