TOPEKA, Kan. — Westminster volleyball closed out the Washburn Invitational with a four-set loss to host Washburn, 1-3 (17-25, 25-23, 12-25, 22-25), on Saturday.
Washburn hit .264 as a team (60-21-148), led by Emma Siron's 13 kills on .263 hitting and Hayden Meats' 13 kills on a .524 clip. Setter Shannon Frakes ran the offense with 48 assists.
Westminster's lone set win came in the second, 25-23, evening the match before Washburn took the final two sets. Elsa Gilmore led the Griffins with 10 kills on .269 hitting, and Kyra Mahler added eight kills on a .471 clip. Claire Cook posted 11 kills but also a team-high 10 attack errors. Tiia Heikkinen ran the offense with 31 assists and 12 digs, and Ava Livolsi paced the defense with 16 digs.
As a team, Westminster hit .128 (38-20-141) with 38 assists, 11 aces and 56 digs.
Westminster will look to get in the win column next week when they face Stanislaus State.
