Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Westminster Blanks Cal St. East Bay 4-0 in Season Opener

The Allie Lieshout era got off to a hot start as Westminster (1-0-0) began its 2026 campaign, and the new head coach's tenure, with a 4-0 victory over Cal State East Bay (0-1-0) on Friday night at Dumke Field. The Griffins dominated possession (63%) and the shot column, out-attempting the Pioneers 13-2.

Game Breakdown

First Half
Westminster set the tone early, taking a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute on a Cal State East Bay own goal. The Griffins nearly doubled the lead moments later when Abigail Austin's shot in the 13th minute was saved by Bianca Avila, but Westminster didn't have to wait long, as Xevani Salanoa found the back of the net in the 15th minute off an assist from Kennedy to make it 2-0.

Amber McIntosh tested Avila again in the 22nd minute, but the shot was saved. Westminster broke through once more in the 25th minute when Ashley Cardozo scored unassisted to push the lead to 3-0. The Griffins continued to pepper the Pioneers' goal through the remainder of the half, with shots from Macy Reed, Carly Bramwell and Callie Hanson all off target. Westminster carried a 7-0 shot advantage and a 3-0 lead into the break, while also winning two corner kicks to Cal State East Bay's one.

Second Half
Cal State East Bay came out with more purpose after the intermission, generating its two shots of the match in the second half — a Grace Moeder attempt saved by Marin Mackenzie in the 54th minute and a Daniela Aceves shot blocked in the 56th minute. Those proved to be the Pioneers' only real threats of the night.

Westminster continued to press, with a Carly Bramwell shot sailing wide in the 65th minute and Xevani Salanoa drawing a save from Yvette Torres in the 73rd minute. Macy Reed was shown a yellow card in the 79th minute, the match's only caution. The Griffins added a fourth goal in the 85th minute when Abigail Austin scored unassisted, closing out the 4-0 final. Westminster outshot Cal State East Bay 6-2 in the half.

Griffin Performances
