Westminster volleyball dropped a straight-set match to Oklahoma Christian, 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-9), in its second match of the Washburn Invitational on Friday at Lee Arena.
GAME BREAKDOWN
Set One
Oklahoma Christian hit .414 as a team to take the opener 25-16. Jenna McClure led the Eagles with six kills on 10 attempts (.500), and Chloe Jones added five kills on a .556 clip. Westminster hit .222 in the set, led by Claire Cook's five kills on 11 attempts (.364), with three kills from Alie Coleman and two from Kaneo Haneberg.
Set Two
Oklahoma Christian hit .290 to win the set 25-20. Kenzy McArtor led the Eagles with four kills on .500 hitting, while Chloe Jones added two kills on .286 hitting. Westminster hit .167 as a team; Cook led with four kills, Jocelyn Grieser added three, and Apiline White went 2-for-2 without an error.
Set Three
Oklahoma Christian closed out the match with a 25-9 win, hitting .300 as a team. Westminster's offense struggled to a -.032 hitting percentage in the set, with Coleman's three kills its top mark.
The match featured five tie scores and four lead changes, all within the first and third sets.
GRIFFIN PERFORMANCES
Claire Cook led Westminster with 10 kills on 29 attempts (.207) to go with six digs.
Jocelyn Grieser added four kills and a team-high four block assists.
Alie Coleman posted seven kills on .250 hitting.
Tiia Heikkinen and Katelyn Eichert split setting duties, combining for 21 of the team's 28 assists. Ava Livolsi led the defense with eight digs.
As a team, Westminster hit .124 (29-17-97) with 28 assists, one ace and 34 digs.
Oklahoma Christian was led by Jenna McClure, who posted 10 kills and a team-high 14.5 points. Chloe Jones added eight kills on .471 hitting with four block assists, and Summer Van Meerveld ran the offense with 22 assists.
