Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Griffins Unable to Slow Benton, Rangers in 16-5 RMAC Road Loss

Game Breakdown

First Half

Regis opened the scoring on an Aubrey Benton man-up goal, but Jessie Giacomazzi answered off a Holly Shoughro assist to tie it at 1-1. The Rangers then rattled off four straight — Evie Tanella on a free position shot, a Kyla Bieker man-up goal, Maggie Schipfer, and another Benton man-up strike — to close the first quarter ahead 5-1. Regis kept the pressure on in the second, extending the lead to 9-1 on goals from Tanella, Springman, Benton, and Schipfer. Westminster mounted a brief response, with Giacomazzi converting a man-up goal off an Olivia Petrosky assist and Jordan Williamson adding a goal off a Shaina Shoughro assist to cut it to 9-3. Regis closed the half with a Tanella goal, however, sending Westminster to the break trailing 10-3.

Second Half

Kaelyn Hart took over in goal to open the third quarter. Regis scored first to push the lead to 11-3, but Westminster answered with back-to-back goals — Lilliana Montano on a free position shot and Shaina Shoughro — to pull within six at 11-5. Benton added a man-up free position goal to close the quarter at 12-5. The Griffins were held scoreless in the fourth as Regis added four more goals, capping the 16-5 final.
