Game Breakdown
First Half
UCCS took an early lead on a Josie Leonard goal before Ella Mills converted a man-up goal to push it to 2-0. Lilliana Montano answered for Westminster to cut it to 2-1, but Mills added another man-up goal just before the quarter ended to send Westminster trailing 3-1 after one. Jessie Giacomazzi opened the second quarter with a free position goal to pull Westminster within one at 2-3, but UCCS responded with six consecutive goals to push the lead to 9-2. Westminster responded with three straight from Madi Rogers, Holly Shoughro, and Adison Bendorf to pull within four at 5-9, but UCCS closed the half with back-to-back goals to lead 11-5 at the break.
Second Half
Kaitlyn Parish took over in goal to start the third quarter. UCCS continued to extend its advantage, scoring five goals in the frame including an Allison Hoffman man-up free position goal to push the lead to 15-5. Giacomazzi scored a man-down goal off an Olivia Petrosky assist to make it 15-6, but UCCS closed the quarter on a man-up goal to lead 16-6. Westminster scored first in the fourth on a Rogers goal to make it 7-16, but UCCS added two more to push to 7-18 before Petrosky and Montano converted back-to-back man-up goals to pull it to 9-18. UCCS closed out the final with two more goals to seal the 20-9 victory.
