Westminster Falls to Colorado School of Mines 77–71 in Overtime Battle

SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster men's basketball battled through a tightly contested road matchup Saturday afternoon, pushing Colorado School of Mines to overtime before falling 77–71 in RMAC action at Lockridge Arena.

The Griffins erased multiple second-half deficits and forced overtime with a late push in regulation, but Mines used a strong extra period to secure the win. The game featured 17 lead changes and eight ties in a back-and-forth contest from start to finish.

Game Breakdown

First Half

Westminster kept pace early in a competitive opening half, trailing just 35–32 at the break. The Griffins shot 38.89% (14–36) from the field and were perfect at the free-throw line (3–3) in the first 20 minutes, while Mines shot 46.67% (14–30) and hit five three-pointers to take the slim halftime edge.

Second Half

The Griffins continued to trade baskets after halftime, outscoring Mines 30–27 in the second half to even the score at 62–62 and send the game to overtime. Westminster shot 37.50% (12–32) in the period and controlled the paint, finishing the game with 50 points inside and 17 fast-break points.

Overtime

Mines pulled away in the extra session, shooting 66.67% (4–6) and knocking down three three-pointers to outscore Westminster 15–9 in overtime and seal the 77–71 result.

Michael Fraizer led Westminster with 21 points, while Jonah El-Farra added 18 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. Colin Hayes contributed 16 points off the bench as the Griffins totaled 24 bench points and 47 rebounds as a team.
