Griffins Drop Double-Overtime Battle to CSU Pueblo at Home

SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's basketball team pushed CSU Pueblo to double overtime Saturday afternoon but came up just short in an 83–79 RMAC loss at Behnken Field House.

The tightly contested matchup featured 12 ties and eight lead changes, with neither team leading by more than two possessions at any point in regulation or overtime.


Game Breakdown

First Half
CSU Pueblo held a narrow 18–17 edge after the first quarter, and both teams scored 13 points in the second to send the game into halftime tied 31–30 in favor of the ThunderWolves.

Second Half
Pueblo built a slim lead in the third quarter, outscoring Westminster 22–18, but the Griffins responded with a 15–10 fourth quarter to force overtime tied 63–63.

Overtime
Both teams scored 10 points in the first overtime period to remain deadlocked at 73–73. CSU Pueblo pulled ahead in the second overtime, outscoring Westminster 10–6 to secure the 83–79 win.


Griffin Performances

Ellie Mitchell led all scorers with 29 points, shooting 11–25 from the field and 4–9 from three while playing 48 minutes. Madison Anderson followed with 15 points on 6–8 shooting, adding 12 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 steals.

Teuila Nawahine finished with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Nisa Ellis added 11 points and 9 rebounds off the bench. Marli Reed contributed 6 points on 2–5 shooting, and Emily Evans chipped in 4 points.

Westminster shot 41.8% (28–67) from the field and 33.3% (7–21) from three while finishing 16–21 (76.2%) at the free-throw line. The Griffins won the rebounding battle 52–34 and scored 24 second-chance points.
