Griffins Rally in Second Half to Top CSU Pueblo

SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster men's basketball turned in a strong second-half performance Saturday afternoon, defeating CSU Pueblo 79–71 in RMAC action at Behnken Field House.

The Griffins erased a five-point halftime deficit and outscored the ThunderWolves 46–33 in the second half, using efficient shooting and control of the tempo to secure the home victory.


Game Breakdown

First Half

CSU Pueblo carried a 38–33 lead into halftime, shooting 60.0% (15–25) from the field and 54.55% (6–11) from three in the opening period. Westminster stayed within striking distance by shooting 44.44% (12–27) and converting 5–6 at the free-throw line.

Second Half

Westminster flipped the game after the break, shooting 56.52% (13–23) from the field and an efficient 75.0% (6–8) from three. The Griffins also went 14–15 (93.33%) at the free-throw line in the second half, building separation late after multiple lead changes.

Individual Performances

Michael Fraizer led all scorers with 20 points, shooting 7–10 from the field and 4–5 from three. Cameron Cohn added 12 points, going a perfect 7–7 at the free-throw line while dishing out 5 assists.
Cole Kadoguchi finished with 11 points, knocking down 3–7 from three, and Jake Nadauld contributed 7 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals.
Off the bench, Boston Painter scored 10 points on 2–3 shooting and 5–6 at the line, while Colin Hayes added 8 points, converting 4–4 from the free-throw stripe.

Team Numbers

Westminster shot 50.0% (25–50) from the field and 52.6% (10–19) from three for the game, while also finishing 19–21 (90.5%) at the free-throw line. The Griffins recorded 18 assists, forced 11 turnovers, and scored 27 bench points.
