Griffins Pull Away in Second Half to Top Regis

 

Denver, CO – Westminster men's basketball earned a 92–70 victory over Regis on Thursday night at Regis Field House, using efficient shooting and strong bench production to pull away in RMAC action.

The Griffins shot better than 50 percent in the second half and outscored Regis 50–38 after the break to secure the road win.


Game Breakdown

First Half

Westminster built a 42–32 halftime lead, shooting 53.13% (17–32) from the field and 44.44% (4–9) from three. The Griffins also went 4–5 at the free-throw line and scored 24 points in the paint in the opening half.

Second Half

The Griffins extended the margin after the break, shooting 54.55% (18–33) from the field and 46.67% (7–15) from beyond the arc. Westminster added 7–9 (77.78%) at the free-throw line in the second half while limiting Regis to 44.00% shooting.

Individual Performances

Michael Frazier led all scorers with 22 points, shooting 10–12 from the field and grabbing 8 rebounds.
Jack Jamele followed with 16 points on 4–6 shooting and 3–4 at the free-throw line.
Jake Nadauld added 11 points, while Mitch Jeppesen chipped in 11 points on 3–5 shooting.
Colin Hayes scored 9 points, and Tommy Ball finished with 6 points.

Westminster had four players score in double figures and received 51 bench points.

Team Numbers

Westminster finished the night shooting 53.8% (35–65) from the field and 45.8% (11–24) from three, while going 78.6% (11–14) at the free-throw line. The Griffins totaled 42 rebounds, 18 assists, forced 16 turnovers, and scored 44 points in the paint.

Regis shot 40.4% (21–52) from the field and 40.9% (9–22) from three, finishing 82.6% (19–23) at the line.

The Griffins will look to extend their win streak to three games on Saturday at Colorado School or Mines.
