SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's basketball team opened a two-game homestand Thursday night with an 83–52 win over Chadron State at Behnken Field House in RMAC play.
The Griffins set the tone early and never trailed, building a double-digit advantage in the opening quarter and maintaining control throughout all four periods.
Game Breakdown
First Half
Westminster jumped out to a strong start, outscoring Chadron State 25–8 in the first quarter. The Griffins continued to extend the lead in the second, adding 20 points to take a 45–27 advantage into halftime.
Second Half
Westminster remained steady after the break, outscoring the Eagles 21–12 in the third quarter. Both teams scored 17 points in the fourth, as the Griffins closed out the 83–52 victory.
Griffin Performances
Teuila Nawahine led Westminster with 16 points, adding 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Emily Evans followed with 15 points on 6–13 shooting, including 2–3 from three, while Ellie Mitchell contributed 11 points, 3 steals, and 2 assists.
Madison Anderson pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds and added 6 points with 3 blocks, while Klowie Pike scored 14 points and added 5 rebounds off the bench. Marli Reed chipped in 6 points on 2–4 shooting from three, and Nisa Ellis added 5 points and 5 rebounds.
Westminster shot 44.9% (31–69) from the field and 40.0% (8–20) from three while finishing 13–18 (72.2%) at the free-throw line. The Griffins won the rebounding battle 45–28, scored 42 points in the paint, and recorded 30 bench points.
