Griffins Go 2–0 on Opening Day at Cal State Monterey Bay D2 Tournament

The Westminster Griffins opened their preseason with a statement performance, going undefeated on Day One of the Cal State Monterey Bay D2 Tournament.

The day began with a grind-it-out, five-set battle against Lincoln Memorial. It was scrappy, messy, and competitive from start to finish, but the Griffins delivered when it mattered most to secure their first win of the season. Final set scores were 25-14, 23-25, 23-25, 25-20, and 15-8. Breegan Huntsman led the way with 16 kills, 3 blocks, and 18 digs, while Mailei Myers made her presence felt at the net with 8 kills and 6 blocks.

In match two, Westminster faced Dominican University. After dropping a tight first set, the Griffins regrouped and found their rhythm, winning three straight to close out a 3–1 victory (25-27, 25-22, 25-12, 25-21). Myers stayed dominant with 12 kills and 4 blocks, while Hailey Killett added 13 kills and a block. On defense, Ava Livolsi anchored the back row with a match-high 30 digs, and Apiline White provided a huge spark off the bench with 7 kills.

It was the team's first time on the court together against high-level competition, and the fight, chemistry, and resilience were on full display. The Griffins finished Day One at 2–0, showing both grit and potential with plenty of season still ahead.

Westminster continues tournament play today against Seattle Pacific and Cal State Monterey Bay.
